The Hackettstown Historical Society has completed its program schedule
for 2007-2008. With new and interesting topics and charasmatic speakers
on hand, this year's programs are sure to educate and entertain.
September 6: The Ice Houses of Waterloo
Learn about Waterloo's famous ice houses and their role in Warren
County history
October 4: Ghost Stories
Are some of our ancestors still with us? Come "see" about Warren County
haunts and hauntings
November 1: Preserving the Olde Burial Ground
The Olde Presbyterian Burial Ground is a Hackettstown landmark. Come
hear about recent radar survey findings and the ongoing efforts to
preserve Hackettstown's oldest ancestral burial ground
December 6: It's Still Out There
Is it treasure or trash? Learn what to look for when hunting for
antiques and collectibles in historic Warren County
February 7: Ancestral Families - The Osmuns
Learn about one of Hackettstown's oldest ancestral families and get
tips on how to research and find your ancestors.
March 6: Hackettstown's Historic Homes
Do you know what it takes to organize a historic house tour? Learn
what's involved and get a sneak peak at some of the featured homes
April 3: The Murder of Tillie Smith
Hear about Hackettstown's famous and shocking 1886 murder of a
Centenary College domestic. Decide for yourself if justice is served!
May 1: Morris Canal Sites in Warren County
The Morris Canal had a tremendousinfluence on the development of the
towns and industries in this area. Learn about the canal sites in
Warren County
