Collections and Memorabilia
The Hackettstown Historical Society Museum houses over thirteen thousand items in its collection of artifacts and memorabilia. Museum visitors and researchers will find a treasure of displayed and reference materials to help with research or curiosity about the town, its early industries and its ancestral families.
 
Photographs & Genealogy
Nearly 200 genealogical files and over a thousand photographs and postcards are available for study in the Society's museum. The collection includes photos of Hackettstown's early homes and buildings as well as portraits and information on ancestral and related family members.

Cemetery Records
DAR records from the Olde Presbyterian Burial Ground and the Union Cemetery are available. The Olde Presbyterian Burial Ground is the oldest cemetery in Hackettstown, established in 1763. Many ancestral family members are interred in these two locations.

Curatorial
The Hackettstown Historical Society museum is home to a unique collection of artifacts, memorabilia, books, ephemera, vintage clothing and more relating to the many aspects of life in Hackettstown and the surrounding area over the past 150 years.
 
Yesterday's Kitchen
Read recipes used in Hackettstown's kitchens in the early 20th century. The collection includes recipes found in a Hackettstown cookbook that contained contributions from local ladies and ads from area merchants.

Deeds, Documents and Newspapers
More than 500 documents, deeds and manuscripts dating from the colonial period to the twentieth century are available for study in the Museum. Also available are microfilmed editions of local 19th century newspapers, census records, and over 100 maps.

Reference Library
The Society's Historical Reference Library contains over 800 titles of state, county, genealogical and local interest. It also includes unique items, such as reports, oral histories, letters, scrapbooks, and more related specifically to Hackettstown, its history and its people.

HHS is always looking for items which will better help us to tell the story of the people and history of Hackettstown. We rely on donations from patrons to help us build our collections.

HHS will gladly accept your contributions on a short term loan basis or as part of our permanent collections.
